Letter from the Founder & President
As we enter our second decade, there are several things we want people to know about us. First, the Dakota Foundation focuses on ways to combine business discipline and charitable intentions to solve social problems.
We foster organizations and activities that are sustainable in an economic and environmental sense. We help people invest in themselves to improve their economic condition and that of their families and communities. All of this ties to our values: self-reliance, human dignity, equal opportunity, and preservation of life and beauty on our earth. |

One of our primary considerations in pursuing our program goals is geographic location. We didn't start out with a defined geographic focus, but we now have one tied to our family's roots in North Dakota and New Mexico. High priority is given to programs that address social and economic needs in these two states.
We at the Dakota Foundation are aware of the special position we and other family foundations occupy in the non-profit world. Each day we have the privilege of meeting dedicated individuals working to make the world a better place for present and future generations. We are pleased to support them in their efforts.
